The year is nineteen twenty. On the twenty-eighth day of October in nineteen nineteen the Volstead Act became a law and came into effect at midnight on January seventeenth of this year.
Unbeknownst to the members of the House and the Senators that saw it through, prohibition would open the floodgates for organized crime throughout the United States. Violent gangs were now in a position to produce, export and distribute a substance that nobody wanted to disappear and by means of supply and demand, these gangs were about to become very rich and powerful. They'd soon find they now had an upper hand they could never have dreamed of, able to control corrupt politicians and authority figures more easily than ever before. Nobody wanted to stop having a good time, and with the emergence of speakeasies, criminal enterprises were able to ensure that nobody stopped having a good time.
Social morals are loosening and while gangsters were enjoying themselves and their new spoils, those who had followed the temperance movement for many years now had a task ahead of them to ensure that those criminals were reported and brought to justice.
Will you take advantage of the dire situation, side with these criminals and prey on the weak? Or will you uphold the law in the fight to bring the corrupt to justice?
